When I woke up this morning, Madam Pomfrey told me I was ready to leave the Hospital Wing. My left forefinger won't be growing back, I'll always be a little deaf in one ear, and there's a mess of scars on my side, but otherwise my wounds have all healed up. I reckon I was pretty lucky, all things considered. So I asked where my clothes were, and she told me they were on the chair beside the bed. My own clothes were ruined in the battle, so I expected different ones, but when I turned to look at the chair, I about stopped breathing.

I called after her, 'Are you sure these are for me?' and she said over her shoulder, 'The castle provided them.'

So I put them on.

I'm wearing Ravenclaw robes for the very first time.

Mum, putting on the robes made me think of this:

Do you think, perhaps after the Memorial service is done, we could have the Moddey Dhoo kids Sorted? I mean, is the Hat somewhere in the headmaster's office that we can reach it? Or would it come to you with an 'Accio?'

I'm glad I'm up now and I can help you more. I can go out tomorrow with Fred and George if you like.

It's a sweet thought, love, and I know Hogwarts has a very personal meaning for you. But I don't think it's quite the same for everyone else at Moddey.

If the school reopens in fall, there will be several of ours who'll want to take part -- but not all of them, I'd imagine, and that's the sort of thing that takes time to decide. So let's save the Sorting for fall.

You're right. It should be their own choice, if they want to be sorted or not.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ... what's the word I want. Denigrade their Moddey Dhoo education. They can hold their heads up with any Hogwarts students who've just passed their N.E.W.T.s

Oh, love. It's not offensive in the least. It's just that you might think of Hogwarts differently than others would, and it's important to understand that not everyone wanted to go here.

Moddey wasn't superiour, or significantly worse, I'd warrant, although we had our fair share of gaps, but it was very different. And what is familiar to them doesn't translate all the time to the Houses and formality Hogwarts represents.

The truth? Not so good. Madam Pomfrey ordered me not to transform while my wounds were knitting, and that was hard. Seeing the robes helped. But I've been feeling so bleak about Neville that it took awhile before I could bring myself to put them on.

Mum told me when I woke up. The look on her face when she told me...

I hope I never see a look on her face like that as long as I live.

Everyone's absolutely gutted about someone we lost. Several someones. Loads of someones. So you're in good company.

Why would that make it hard to put the robes on, though? You have to know that Neville would be dead chuffed to see you in Ravenclaw colours at last.

I feel guilty.

I can't talk to Mum and Dad about it. I'm trying to be a big brother to Evelyn and Kevin, but it's not the same, and they know it's not the same.

George 'n me have lost a brother, too, Terry. We know what it's like.

I...forgot. That's right, you have. I'm sorry I forgot. It's strange, it was difficult to think of Percy as your brother, because you were so different than him.

It's just that...see, I promised him. I promised him we'd find him and bring him home. I'd care for him the rest of our lives if I had to. But I couldn't keep that promise in the end.

Don't you think that what happened might have been what Neville would have wanted?

Well, granted, I'm sure he couldn't have wanted what happened in the interrogation rooms. But he chose that, yeah?

I can guarantee you, as a Gryffindor, that if he could have understood what was happening, if he knew he had a chance to take Voldemort down versus being rescued, he would have chosen the first. Don't you think so?

It's right to miss him. It's right to be sad we couldn't rescue him. But he wouldn't have thought you're, I dunno, taking his place. He was happy when your family adopted you.

I know it's cold comfort at best, but I reckon that if you have to lose someone you love, it's better to know it's because he was being a hero for the Order.

We don't have even that.

And let me tell you, it sucks dragon eggs.

Hermione, I'm so sorry for everything. For Harry, and Mr Snape and all the rest. I'd say the same to Draco, but I reckon I'd have my nose snapped off, not that I'd blame him in the least. So I reckon he'd appreciate it best if I don't say anything to him. I'm thinking about you both, though.

Is there anything I can do for you? For either of you, without being, I dunno, irritating? I understand wanting to be left alone, if that suits you best; I won't take it amiss in any way if that's the case.

I'm in charge of Kevin tonight, and Fred and George are taking me out for camp visits tomorrow. But I could come prepare potion ingredients tomorrow night. If you need any help.

There's so much going on it's difficult to know where to start. Potioneer Slughorn has been rather busy, though, building stock. I've got to start working on Severus's notes on the Sleepers, though, and putting the final touches on so we can begin production. For now, if you'd help him, that would free me considerably.

Or if you'd rather not (though I'm sure he'd be glad of it), I'm sure Mr Lupin and Mrs Longbottom have loads to do and could use assistance.

...The thing is, I know they're sending Mr and Mrs Malfoy away soon, I'm not sure if it'll be today or when, but before the end of the weekend, I think. And even though he's still angry with them, Draco's going to be nearly impossible to be around for a while. I think you're right to give him a wide berth for now.

I'm giving my days to help Mum and Dad. Went out for camp visits today.

I'll assist Potioneer Slughorn in the evenings, so you can work on the Sleeper potion.

And I know from Dad that Mr and Mrs Malfoy left today.

With all he's lost this week, it's a good thing he has you, Hermione.
