who sent me things for my birthday. And cards and notes, too.

It was nice. They always sing happy birthday at dinner at the Sanctuary for whoever's birthday it is, and Victor served pudding after supper.

But I'm finally convinced I'm in the right place. With the right people, and that they're really my family.

I've lost a brother, too, remember. Not for the same reasons, or the same way.

The first birthday afterward is hard.
