I had hoped to meet up with Ron tonight for another practise session with him and Professor Dumbledore, but maybe I missed him? Or misunderstood the time. I was backed into the alcove of the statue of Bufarious the Befuddled, which is a good place to look at the students coming from three different directions, without them being able to spot me. (It's deeply in shadow, too, and the fact that Cedric turns my fur black after I transform in the morning makes me even less visible).

Hermione, you walked right by me without seeing me. You looked so happy, almost like you were floating on air.

I had to put my head down on my paws and shut my eyes to tamp down the urge to go after you. But it was great to see you, if even for just a fleeting moment.

Ron, I'll stay here for another hour if you still want to meet up tonight (just transformed quick to write this up when most everyone is in dinner).

Oh, I'm sorry, Terry! It's just.... I'm not sure that Mr Snape wants Mr Lupin to know but I brewed his Wolfsbane for the month. Properly, I mean. By myself.

If Ron doesn't come maybe we could meet in the secret room for a bit.

Well, no wonder you were walking on air then! That's fantastic! Mr Snape must have been very pleased. Congratulations!

I'll wait here. If Ron doesn't come, I'll head for the secret room right around curfew. It's no trouble for me to avoid prefects on patrol in this form; I can smell them coming from several corridors away.

Well, he said it was 'acceptable within parameters.' And he said well done. Which I suppose he didn't have to say, you know, if he didn't really mean it. So I think he was pleased. Mostly I think he'll be relieved he doesn't have to do it every month, now, with so many other potions to attend to and so on.

But I think he wants to make sure Mr Lupin doesn't think there's any difference before we tell him.

It's easier for me to go to the secret room before curfew but once I'm there it's no problem to wait. And anyway, I can do some reading while I'm waiting.

I mean, if I can do the potion properly from now on. It's only been once. In the real Potioneering Guild they make aspiring Potioners brew certain things more than once before they'll declare someone has the mastery over that particular brew. For Wolfsbane it's three proper cauldrons, I looked it up. So he probably means to test me on it for at least the next two months just to make certain I can uphold the standard. And I mean, it's really, really important that Mr Lupin's potion be right, especially with little Bea in the house and Ms Tonks and all. So once he's sure I can do it, then he can move on to the other potions he needs to work on, you know, like the cure for the Sleepers and more experimental things like that.
