I finally screwed up my courage to try this, and it worked. It really worked: I can write truly private messages now! This one's protected by the 'Order Only' lock, and I bet I can do it on the 'I Solemnly Swear' lock, too. Usually, when I write 'Private message to' and fill in a name, the magic of the journals used to automatically fill in 'and Amycus Carrow.' When I wrote 'Private message to Fred Weasley' it started to write, 'and A--' and then the ink on the 'A' just faded away. And then I was able to add 'George Weasley.'

You have no idea satisfying that was.

I wonder though...I suppose I don't have a legal master now because he's dead. And she was his heir, and I suppose that in the ordinary course of things, if he died, then her name would have started appearing at the top of my private messages. But she's dead, too, so I guess I'm in some sort of legal limbo. Will that even occur to them at the Ministry? As far as they're concerned, I'm missing; I'm sort of like lost property, I guess. But if someone gets the bright idea to assign me to a new master, even though I'm still missing, then maybe someday soon I'll write 'Private message to Fred Weasley' and it'll fill in 'and Barty Crouch, Jr.' Or 'and Lucius Malfoy.'

Or 'and Bellatrix Lestrange.'

Ugh. Let's hope that they don't think of reassigning my ownership like that.

I can just hear you saying it even now: Nobody owns you, Professor. I know, I know. Nobody owns me.

It was wonderful to see you, to spend the week with you. Beyond wonderful. And last night was just dead amazing. I couldn't believe it that they wanted me to join them. Everyone was just as nice as could be. Thanks for speaking up for me, asking them to let me in. I wouldn't have dared, but I'm really glad you did.

Blimey, now I'll have to keep two locks straight. How did Hermione do it all this time? One seemed miraculous enough, but now I have this new one to get to know, and all the people on it. Guess your older brother Bill's just as clever as you.

I'll miss you tonight. Sleeping next to you. That helped, considering that I was in a new place and all. I'm up late because I'm having a hard time dropping off...Dudley's snoring away. I really don't mind, I even sort of like it. It's a kind of friendly sound, I think. I'm putting my quill away and shutting off my lumos light, and I'll try again as the Professor. I think they may be moving us tomorrow, so we'll start bunking with some of the other boys. I'm a little nervous about it. But I know they won't force us into anything that doesn't feel right. Mr and Mrs Longbottom were real firm about that.

Good night.
